Head in the clouds
Cloud computing has been hailed as one of the biggest trends that will take off during 2009. Say you start a small business, hire some key people and then you need to invest in software, servers etc. Setting up an IT infrastructure is expensive which is why people are now investigating ‘Cloud Computing’.
Cloud computing means that email, documents, calendars and other business communication tools are being delivered and hosted on the web…in the ‘Cloud’. Most of us are already using online-based email, calendars, event planning, photo sharing and financial systems, which is why the Cloud Computing concept isn’t that ‘out there’.
Enter Cloudo, currently in Beta for developers only. It’s a cloud computing OS that offers an attractive interface, the virtual operating system means that all of your documents are accessible from any computer connected to the internet.
Ted Persson, in charge of strategy says:
“The computers we use today are based on a set of ideas and concepts that were developed in the late 70’s, they haven’t evolved to meet the demands of today’s mobile lifestyle and the possibilities the Internet offers. Among 20 year-olds more than 95% of the time by the computer is spent online. Cloudo is the natural next step, taking the full desktop online”.
