How do you solve a problem like Maria?

The first part of a cool marketing strategy is to get noticed, something that’s becoming increasingly difficult these days. Flemish commercial television
station VTM used a creative Flashmob approach to launch their newest reality television program “Op
zoek naar Maria” which has been launched to find an actress to play the
leading role of Maria in the musical version of The Sound of Music.

On a Monday morning 200 dancers  infiltrated amongst the commuters at the Central Station in Antwerp. A modern version of The Sound of
Music hit “Do Re Mi” came through the speakers and a few started to dance to the music. Gradually, more and more dancers,
disguised as commuters, joined them until the entire hall was packed
with a dancing crowd.

Great way to get noticed – spread the message and get your brand message across…..the upbeat version of Do Re Mi is pretty catchy too :)

Apparently even T-mobile weren’t that original, as this was first done a year earleir at the same station but by a far smaller group of 20

Yeah you’re right….but not a lot of marketing is original these days huh. I just like the pretty clear link to the product…and I like flashmobs….perhaps we should dedicate a blog to that :)

Good marketing ploy. I really like the T-Mobile one too. Makes me want to party.
