Google Wave? What’s all the hype about?

Google Wave is a real-time, online communication tool. It can be a chat, or a document where people such as yourself, friends and colleagues can discuss projects, upload photos, videos etc in real time. It is live, shared and editable from any part of the world and at any part of the conversation.

The great thing about Google Wave is that it stores a single copy of everyone’s ideas, suggestions, RSVPs etc, instead of using multiple tools. You can draft content, discuss and solicit feedback in one place instead of sending numerous emails with large attachments, which can get lost along the way.

You can bring as many people as you like into a chat and use it as a brainstorming session, you can easily add rich content to the conversation to narrow down your ideas. There are multiple extensions that can be added such as Sudoku games, weather reports, real time video chats, Google maps and many more.

Really interesting from a project collab point of view….I have an invite I just haven’t had the time as yet to figure out how it all works :)

My word… what do they feed you people at this place.

Google wave is going to be the next big thing if you’re seriously into SEO and social networking.

Very very awesome if you run a blog… and by blog I mean one that generates crap loads of content.

    http://www.imod.co.za is a good example.

Can’t wait for it to launch, invite only at the moment is stupid because everyone you know is not yet on it so you won’t really see the full potential… yet

@halicon you make a good point and I relate to the current ‘closed community’ vibe, I still haven’t had a chance to investigate it properly. The possibilities are really interesting should it ‘open up’ – Nic poses some interesting, possible future scenarios (dreams?) here http://nicharalambous.com/2009/10/29/google-wave-use-cases-in-africa-with-al/
