Google Labs: Offline Gmail access
Having a web based email system is very convenient as it means that you can access your email from anywhere. The biggest downside however is that you need to be connected to retrieve your email….in SA this is sometimes easier said than done.
One of the widest used online email systems is Google’s Gmail – these clever guys realise that web access is not always ‘on’ so from today they are starting to roll out the experimental ‘Offline Gmail” feature in Gmail Labs So even if you’re offline, you can open your web browser, go to gmail.com, and get to your mail just like you’re used to. Their goal is to provide you with the same experience offline as you’re used to online. Naturally it’s in experimental phase at the moment so there may still be hiccups.

Something like this is long overdue if you ask me. Web based email always fell short of good old Outlook when it came to being able to access your mail offline.
