			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last week I posted on <a title="Being one of the guys" href="http://ilearn.amorphous.net/work-smarter/being-one-of-the-guys/" target="_blank">teams and how it implies going another mile</a>. This time around we’ll focus on something a bit more practical and less philosophical:</p>
<p>Starting at a new job always has a level of stress involved. Your first day is packed with first impressions for both you and the team members. Starting at Amorphous I understood how it might feel if you found your nook. As I spent more time with the peeps I realised that they were like this with everybody, not just new guys and gals. It was a team spirit that just would not be crushed.</p>
<p>How did they do this? When a team member did something cool, great or immaculate it was recognised. Not just by your team, but by the lot of them.</p>
<p>In short, your employee is a STAR that can and will go the distance…you just need to add recognition. Add it too often and the employee is spoilt. Add too little and the employee is at first disheartened, then bitter and then dies to your vision of what you want to achieve and just becomes an expendable asset.</p>
<p>There are myriads of things Amorphous has done to amaze its peeps, all of them not taking much time, but a good shift of perception on how we treat each other.</p>
