Visual Search will present you with a grid of images – divided into categories – making it easy to find exactly what you need without having to know its exact name. It works well, or will work well, when, for example, you’re shopping for gadgets or looking for a famous person whose name you just can’t remember.

Theme party
If you go here you will find 29 sparkly new colourful themes for Google Chrome – some a 10 on the swimsuit competition scale and some a 1, but all more than just a pretty face – just waiting for you to click on the ‘Apply Theme’ button. The theme will then download and in the download manager at the bottom of the Chrome browser window you can simply select ‘Open’. Voila.

Of course no war would be complete without minor players wading into the trenches, guns blazing. Enter Jolicloud www.jolicloud.com, a startup hailing from Paris, France, who proclaimed their hopes to give the big players a run for their money when it comes to powering the netbooks of this world on the very same day that Google announced Chrome OS.
