What has Google done for you lately?

So there I was, sitting in the bushveld listening to sound of nature as it was before we ‘evolved’ and built cars, air conditioners, telephones, and, and, and.  I began wondering how much we have changed as a species since we became civilized and started building stuff.  This could have led to days of pondering but guess what? I Googled it from my iPhone.

The results were quite astounding but one article in particular intrigued me – Is Google making us stupid? by Nicholas Carr.  I immediately related to what Carr was saying, especially on how his (and my) mind is changing, especially around concentration levels.  Where once I could read a fifty page article or several chapters of a novel, now I find my mind drifting after just a few lines. It seems this phenomenon is being experienced by many and this has prompted research into whether our brains are changing or adapting to this new environment.  I am not going to rehash Carr’s article here so rather read it for yourself.  Just be careful, it seems we might be losing the ability to read and absorb a longish article on the web or in print so try it in bite sized chunks.  For more -  Is Google making us stupid? by Nicholas Carr
